Canada has reaffirmed the significance of its partnership with India as both nations aim to enhance bilateral relations and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors. This was highlighted during a meeting between Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Following the meeting, Anita Anand emphasized India’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing and most dynamic economies. The discussions between the ministers focused on reviewing progress under the Canada-India roadmap, which outlines cooperation in key areas such as trade, security, energy, mobility, innovation, and defense. Both ministers expressed a strong commitment to advancing shared priorities and further strengthening ties between the two countries.
Jaishankar described the meeting as productive, noting that the two countries are working towards elevating their relationship to a higher level. This reflects a mutual interest in expanding collaboration and pursuing shared goals.
Additionally, Anand reiterated Canada’s goal to diversify its international partnerships and strengthen economic relationships with countries across the Indo-Pacific, Gulf, and Latin America. This includes major economies like India and China, as Canada seeks to build a more robust network of international allies and economic partners.
