Announced in New York during a meeting between Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the new aid package includes $45 million allocated for Australian Defence Force equipment. Furthermore, Ukraine’s energy support fund will receive $10 million, while $5 million is earmarked for humanitarian assistance. This latest contribution brings Australia’s total support for Ukraine to approximately $1.9 billion since the onset of Russia’s invasion in 2022.
In tandem with the financial aid, a landmark 10-year bilateral security agreement was unveiled, highlighting increased military training collaboration and plans to explore joint ventures in air-defense systems, missile, and drone production.
