HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura has unveiled plans for Okura Resort Hakone Gora, its first domestic resort, set to open in 2029 in Japan’s most sought-after hot spring region.

The boutique luxury property will offer 58 rooms, each with its own private outdoor onsen filled with genuine Owakudani spring water—a rare feature even in Hakone. Designed by renowned creative Gwenael Nicolas, the resort follows a “Forest Hideaway” concept that merges modern elegance with natural surroundings.

Guests can also expect exceptional teppanyaki dining and the brand’s hallmark hospitality. The resort aims to set a new benchmark for privacy and exclusivity in Hakone when it opens in 2029.
